The famed French hi-fi maker has revealed a larger and improved version of its extremely acclaimed, low-cost bookshelf speakers. The brand has a solid reputation among both audiophiles and general listeners for providing high-quality music at a reasonable price. This latest edition seeks to elevate sound quality, providing increased clarity, deeper bass, and a more immersive listening experience without breaking the wallet.

With a redesigned design and updated internal components, the new speakers offer superior acoustics, making them a fantastic choice for music and home theater fans. The bigger build provides Hi-Fi audio upgrade dispersion and deeper tones, resulting in a more dramatic audio experience. As the need for high-quality yet economical audio solutions grows, this latest improvement reinforces the French brand’s position as a budget hi-fi market leader.

Triangle is a French hi-fi producer whose history dates back to the 1980s. For many years, its Borea loudspeaker brand has been noted for its unique design and Hi-Fi Audio Upgrade, as well as its excellent pricing.

Triangle has previously produced two bookshelf speakers in its entry-level Borea line: the Borea BR02 ($389) and the Borea BR03 ($459). But now it’s added a third option to the mix, promising an even Hi-Fi audio upgrade while remaining reasonably priced.

Adapted Design and Technology

Triangle’s Borea BR04 is essentially a larger and improved version of the brand’s current Borea BR03. The two passive bookshelf speakers are two-way, with the identical 1-inch silk dome tweeter and 6-inch cellulose mid-woofer.

However, there is a clear size difference. The two speakers are identical in width and depth, but the Borea BR04 stands over two inches taller and weighs nearly five pounds more than the Borea BR03.

According to Triangle, the BR04 was designed to improve the BR03 by “offering superior performance while maintaining a compact, affordable design.”

Larger Cabinet, Richer Bass

The biggest sonic difference between the two speakers is in the bass. This is due to increased cabinet size and a redesigned bass reflex port.

Triangle has made the front-mounted bass-reflex port a signature feature. It allows the listener to place its speakers closer to barriers while maintaining sound quality.

However, unlike the Borea BR03, which has two front-mounted bass reflex ports, the Borea BR04 only has one huge one. According to the company, this bigger port is intended to improve airflow and provide deeper, more controlled bass.

Available in six unique finishes

Triangle has also expanded its finish options. The Borea BR04 is available in six different finishes, compared to the Borea BR03’s four.

The Borea BR04 comes in light oak, white, black ash, chestnut, blue, and green (the last two are the most distinct from the BRO3). Each pair comes with magnetic grilles.

Hi-Fi Audio Upgrade: Pricing and Availability

The latest addition to the famous Borea bookshelf speakers improves sound quality significantly but at a higher cost. Audiophiles seeking greater performance will have to pay an additional $100 over prior models. The improved Borea BR03 now sells for $459 per pair, while the Borea BR04 costs $559 per pair.

Despite the price increase, the improved audio clarity, deeper bass response, and enhanced high-frequency performance make these speakers an appealing choice for budget-conscious music fans looking for a Hi-Fi experience. The Borea series has long been recognized for providing Hi-Fi audio upgrade at an accessible price, and this latest revision guarantees that it remains a top choice in the competitive bookshelf speaker market. With enhanced performance, these speakers remain an outstanding value for both casual listeners and dedicated audiophiles wishing to upgrade their home audio system.

The bookshelf speakers are now available from Triangle’s website or Amazon, however the latter does not appear to stock all six finishes.
